Get PIFFed!

February 15th, 2011

Portlanders love their movies, particularly independent and art house films. Whether it’s the rain that drives us inside, our fiercely independent culture, the influence of our vibrant artistic and film making community or a combination of all of those things, we love it when the lights go down and the screen lights up with something we haven’t seen a thousand trailers for.

There is no better example of that than the 34th Annual Portland International Film Festival, which opened this weekend. Eleven area venues will project hundreds of films from 46 countries over the seventeen day event that continues thru Saturday, Feb 26.

If you’re looking for someone to compare notes with, check out the PIFF after-parties (because we do love our after-parties) which occur daily at Nel Centro, aka “The PIFF Lounge,” from Sunday-Thursday 4-11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 4 p.m.-12 a.m. We’ve heard the PIFFtini is pretty good…

For tickets and more information, check out the PIFF web page.
