New Diggs for the Saturday Market

May 11th, 2009

If you haven’t heard the news yet, or seen the construction that’s been detouring people for about a year along Waterfront Park, the Saturday Market is getting ready to move into its new home!

The Saturday Market (which for all of you out-of-towners following us takes place on both Saturdays and Sundays) is moving from its longtime home beneath the Burnside Bridge to beautiful new digs across Naito Parkway in Tom McCall Waterfront Park. The new space is going to have shelter from the elements for the vendors, a new performance space and even a fountain.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is going to be on May 16th at 10:00 a.m. Our mayor, Sam Adams, will be there. And if that’s not enough to get you out of the house then maybe the Lions of Batucada can! They are a local samba percussion ensemble that simply rocks. If you have never had the pleasure of hearing them perform you shouldn’t miss this chance! They are going to literally beat a path from the old location to the market’s new home.

Hope to see you there!
